Germany, (pronounce: ʤɚˈməni) (German: Deutschland) is a country in the heart of Europe bordering the North Sea, Denmark, and the Baltic sea to the north, Poland and Czechia to the east, Austria and Switzerland to the south, and France, Luxembourg, Belgium, and the Netherlands to the west. The capital of Germany is Berlin. Some other major German cities include Hamburg, Munich, Frankfurt, and Cologne. The main language of Germany is German, however, the Slavic language of Sorbian is spoken by a small community in Saxony. In the east, Germany is mostly athiest, in the northwest, Germany is mostly Protestant and in the south, Germany is mostly Catholic. Germany has a population of about 83.5 to 84 million people. The current chancellor of Germany is Freidrich Merz.
