By 2000 BCE, the Hittites and Hurrians lived roughly arround modern-day Armenia. By 1680 BCE, the Hittites left to form a kingdom in Anatolia leaving only the Hurrians. By 1590 BCE, the Hurrians had also left. By 590 BC, the Medes colonized Armenia. By 550 BC, the Persian Empire conquered the Medes. By 330 BC, the Persians lost control of Armenia due to Alexander the Great's conquest. In 301 BC, the kingdom of Iberia was founded in Armenia, although its people were Kartvelians which are the ancestor of modern-day Georgians. The next year to the south, the kingdom of Armenia was founded. In 211 BC, Armenia was conquered by the Seleucid empire. In 189 BC, the Seleucids lost the battle of Magnesia and Armenia regained independence. In 94 BC, Armenia conquered Sophene. In 85 BC, Armenia conquered a part of northwestern Iran. In 83 BC, Armenia conquered Commagene, Seleucid, Cilicia, and a big part of the Parthian empire reaching Armenia's greatest extent from the Caspian sea to the Mediteranean sea. In 71 BC, Rome conquered Armenia's coast to the Mediteranean sea. In 68 BC, Rome conquered deeper into Armenia. In 66 BC, the Armenians pushed them back. In 63 BC, the Parthians conquered deep into Armenian territory. In 52 BC, Armenia was conquered by Parthia. In 19 BC, Parthian Armenia was conquered by Rome.
