The Early Modern History of Great Britian and Ireland - 7-17-2026 380

The year is 1500 AD. The kingdom of England stands proud in southern Great Britian including the island of Ireland and the more humble kingdom of Scotland is to the north. Rumors spread about a 'New World' filled with gold! This should certainly interest them. In 1604 AD, the queen of England died, and the successor was a Scot. So England and Scotland formed a personal union. In 1608 AD, the English sailed across the Atlantic sea and founded the colony of Virginia. In 1621 AD, the British started a colony in  Boston. In 1361 AD, the British expanded their colony in Boston to the north. In 1635 AD, the British colonized southern Maryland. In 1636 AD, the British colonized most of Connecticut. In 1647 AD, the British expanded their colony in Virginia. In 1651 AD, the British connected their colonies in New England and expanded further north along the Atlantic ocean coastline. In 1665 AD, the British conquered the Dutch colony in North America and renamed New Amsterdam to New York. In 1669 AD, the British colonized the southern coast of the Hudson Bay. In 1671 AD, the British colonized Savannah. In 1675 AD, the United Kingdom connected their colonies in Virginia and Maryland with their larger New England colony. In 1698 AD, the British colonized deeper into Virginia. In 1685 AD, the British colonized the southwestern coast of the Hudson bay. In 1707 AD, England and Scotland formed the permanent union of the United Kingdom. In 1714 AD, after the war of Spanish succession ended in a Spanish defeat, the United Kingdom colonized the territory of the original thirteen colonies, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, and the land around the Hudson bay. By 1756 AD, the United Kingdom and France has colonized large parts of North America. The Ohio territory was disputed between them. France asked if it was okay if they could build some forts in that land, and the British said no. But the French did it anyway which made the British very angry. So they send general George Washington to go deal with it and the French surrendered. But the Indians fighting on the British side did not get the message yet and attacked one of the French, but do not worry, it is not like this will start a major 7-year long global conflict! What happened next was a major 7-year long global conflict. The United Kingdom won the war, and annexed all of France's colonies in North America. However, both the United Kingdom and France were broke. So, the United Kingdom made the genius decision to tax the British colonies. This made the people living there very angry. What are they doing? It looks like they wrote a few documents, lets see, the Articles of Confederation, nice, the Constitution, hmm ok... the DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE!! No way. Soon the colonies started a revolution and suprized everyone by defeating the British using tactics such as guerilla warfare despite the British having the most powerful millitary in the entire world with the help of the French and the Spanish. At the treaty of Paris, the United States was given land all the way to the mississippi river! Ok, the United Kingdom lost a huge piece of land. But do not worry! The British also have colonies in Canada, India, Australia, Belize, the Bahamas, Jamaica, many other small islands in the Carribean, and Guyana.
