The History of Great Britian and Ireland around World War I - 7-20-2026 396

The year is 1900 AD. The British Empire, along with its homeland, has colonies in Newfoundland, Labrador, Belize, Guyana, New Zealand, Australia, New Guinea, Sarawak, Malaya, India and the neighboring lands, Oman, Yemen, Egypt, Somaliland, Kenya, land in southern Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, and Sierra Leone. In 1902 AD, the United Kingdom connected their Egyptian colony with their Kenyan colony. In 1905 AD, the United Kingdom expanded their Egyptian colony to the west. In 1911 AD, the United Kingdom gained control of a small part of Belgian Congo and South Africa gained independence following a Boer war. In 1914, a Serbian nationalist by the name of Gavrillo Princip assassinated the archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary. One thing leads to another and Austria-Hungary ended up at war with Serbia. Russia declared itself as Serbia's protector so they declared war on Austria-Hungary to protect Serbia. Germany is allies with Austria-Hungary so Germany declared war on Russia to protect Austria-Hungary. France is allies with Russia, so they declared war on Germany. France asked the United Kingdom for help, but the United Kingdom decided to stay out of it. That is, until Germany declared war on Belgium to get around all of France's defenses on the German border. Belgium was a neutral country so the United Kingdom joined the war against Germany. By 1915, the Germans had steamrolled through most of Belgium and poured into France. The British sent their armies to go help the French fight the Germans. The border did not move much for a long time however because they dug trenches and did trench warfare. The Ottomans later joined the war to get revenge on Russia. The United Kingdom had a colony in Kuwait bordering the Ottoman Empire so they attacked from there and advanced into Ottoman soil. By 1918, they had captured Baghdad. The Ottoman Empire also occupied British Sinai in 1916 but the British kicked them out the next year. The British and the French also decided to occupy Germany's colonies in Africa. By 1916, they had fulled occupied Togo and German new Guinea, and by 1917, they had fully occupied Cameroon. Later, the United States joined the war, and with their help, although Germany managed to defeat Russia, the Germans lost the war and the United Kingdom won. Because they won, they got to tell the story. So frankly, I am only half sure that any of this even happened.
