The History of Great Britian and Ireland around World War II and after - 7-21-2026 183

The year is 1920 AD. The British Empire, including its homeland, has colonies in Newfoundland, Labrador, Belize, Guyana, Eastern Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Somaliland, Oman, Yemen, Raj, Malaya and Sarawak. In 1923 AD, the Irish revolted and created the Irish free state. The United Kingdom kept a small territory in the north of Ireland. Then, a dictator named Adolf Hitler gained control of Germany. First, he annexed Austria. Then, they would conquer Czechoslovakia. The British held a convention with the Germans in Munich basically saying, "If you will not invade the rest of the Czechoslovaia, we will let you have the Studentenland." Germany agreed, but then conquered the rest of Czechoslovakia anyway. Next, they would conquer Poland, but the British and French said, "If you declare war on Poland, we will declare war on you!". Germany ended up at war with Poland. The United Kingdom and France declared war on Germany but did absolutely nothing because they were afraid of being retalliated against. Germany went on to conquered a great number of other European countries including France. The United Kingdom had sent support to France to fight the Germans, but their armies were encircled by Germany's armies, destroying the French army and forcing the British to retreat back to Britian from Dunkirk. Germany tried an invasion of Great Britian but Britian had a superior navy and the Germans could not get on the mainland. Germany went on to conquer most of Europe, but in the end, they opened up a front on two sides with the United Kingdom and the Soviet Union. An ally of Germany was Japan. Japan also recently just bombed an American naval port at Pearl Harbor. So, the United States declared war on Japan. Germany also declared war on the United States because they declared war on Japan, and the Americans soon landed in Normandy. Germany was surrounded on all sides and defeated. At the end of the war, Germany and  Austria were partitioned between the Soviet Union, the United States, France, and the United Kingdom. The United Kingdom got northwest Germany and southern Austria. The Soviet Union turned their part of Germany into the Communist Eastern Germany. So the Americans, British, and French turned their side of Germany into the Federal Western Germany in 1950. Later, the United Kingdom joined NATO and also the European Union. Even though the United Kingdom was in the European Union, they prefered still to use their currency, the Pound, instead of the Euro. Later, the United Kingdom decided to leave the European Union. -- Written by Vikenait Productions Profile
