The Modern History of Latvia - 8-7-2026 119
The year is 1919 AD. The Republic of Latvia stretches from Courland to Semigallia and from Livonia to Latgalia. The capital, Riga, sits at the foot of a bay. In 1941 AD, the Soviet Union annexed Latvia and turned it into a Communist SFSR. In 1942 AD, Latvia was occupied by the Germans in World War II. By 1945 AD, the Soviet Union had almost completely pushed the Germans out of Latvia, with them only remaining in Courland. In 1946 AD, the Latvian SFSR was reinstated. In 1991 AD, the Soviet Union collapsed and Latvia gained independence along with Estonia and Lithuania. Latvia soon joined NATO and also the European Union. -- Written by Vikenait Productions
