The World War I History of Russia 141

The year is 1900 AD. The Russian Empire spans from Poland to the Bering strait and from Krasnoyarsk to Tajikistan. The Russian Empire hears the cries of the Christian Slavs being persecuted in the Ottoman Empire. So, Russia, being a Slavic brother, gave them aid to revolt. Greece (not Slavic), Serbia, Bulgaria, and Montenegro all fought a war and basically got all of the Ottoman Empire's Balkan territory except for Istanbul. In 1914 AD, a Serbian nationalized named Gavrillo Princip assassinated archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary. One thing leads to another and Austria-Hungary declares war on Serbia. Russia, seeing itself as Serbia's protector, declared war on Austria-Hungary. Germany, Austria-Hungary's ally declared war on Russia, and finally, France, Russia's ally, declared war on Germany. At first, Germany made a plan. Their border with France was completely loaded with defenses and was basically impenitrable. So Germany decided to just go around it by going through Belgium and Luxembourg into France. They knew Russia's army would take a while to mobilize, so they decided to focus on France and beat them, then turn on Russia. But Russia got prepared earlier than was expected and started pushing into east Prussia. Germany asked Austria-Hungary if they could deal with Russia, but they could not. So Germany had to send some of their soldiers to fight on the Russian front. Weakening them on the French front. Russia pushed into Austria-Hungary but stopped at the Carpathian mountains because they were too hard to get over. Also, the Ottoman Empire, wanting revenge against Russia, declared war on Russia and invaded mid-winter. Russia beat them back into Ottoman territory. By 1917, the Germamns were able to push the Russians out of Poland, Courland, and Austria-Hungary however, Russia managed to push deeper into Ottoman soil. Although they were defeating the Ottomans, things were looking very bad for Russia. There even was a Communist revolution led by Lenin and soon Stalin going on! Then, one absolute genius had the idea of "NO PEACE NO WAR". That Russia would not sign a peace treaty, but just stop fighting. I guess they expected the Germans to just, leave them alone after that. But no, the Germans pushed deeper, and they demanded a much larger amount of territory and resources than before. So, the Russians signed the humiliating treaty of Brest-Litovsk, giving independence to Estonia, Livonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan. So, they signed it and they were out of the war. At this point, Russia had completely been taken over by the Communists and the Soviet Union was instated. Finland and Poland also gained independence. Russia did not want to lose Poland, so they tried stopping it. But Poland managed to push deep into Soviet territory, and then had a peace treaty. So basically, circa 1.6% - 2% of the Russian population died of war or famine. But now Russia became communist! What else could possibly go wrong? Well as it turned out: A lot.
